MRI- can it find endo?

Hi all, I recently had an MRI scan and I dont really understand what they are trying to find. They didnt tell me when I will get the results or from whom so I am worried about why I was referred in the first place. Is it to look for endo? or cysts? or something else? i have longstanding endo anyway but last lap was a year ago. x

They're probably checking for cysts and adenomyosis (endo in the wall of the womb). Wish they'd do one on me so I can finally get a proper diagnosis for my adeno. Hope you get the results you want but they normally only see endo on an MRI if it's really bad with chocolate cysts etc. Hugs xx

thanks missteal. ya i know I do appreciate them doing it, ive been on for ages to do some further investigations, but i just wish they would communicate more why they are doing things. sometimes it feels like you are not a person when they dont keep you in the loop about your own health! thank you for the insight into the MRI. i did wonder about the cysts, but I didnt have any at either of my previous laps, so not sure why they would be looking for that. maybe as you say its adenomyosis. will be interesting to get the results, and hopefully cross some more things of the list even if they dont find much. thanks and hugs back at you. hope you manage to get an mri if you need one too xxx

Hiya. I had an MRI scan recently & it's mainly used to diagnose Adenomyosis which can't be seen at a lap. It's also used to check if there's rectovaginal endo which may also not be visible during a lap. Bit rubbish you're not being told what they're looking for....consult who requested the MRI should give you the results. Good luck with your results x

oh ok cool. thank you dixie. well ya i have a lot of ongoing bowel problems including unexplained bleeding and it was a pelvic and rectal MRI so that could be it. thank you :) it would be nice to know one way or other. its so hard holding down a full time job with this cloud of exhaustion and pain lol. i know we are all in the same boat and thank god for this site that we can all know we are not alone:) hope that your MRI is useful in helping you xxx

Hi

I had a MRI Scan and I had to wait for over 3 weeks when I saw my gynaecology and they can see endometriosis and other problems. They did this because I am a high risk for another laproscope as I have had so many. So now waiting to have hysterectomy. Wishing you all the best. If you are worried about the results contact the doctor who sent you to find out the results.
