Stuck between a rock and a hard place. Really confused over next steps on treatments.

Morning everyone,

I've turned to this board because quite frankly I have no idea what to do. After meeting with a new consultant on February 17th a new treatment plan was put in place. This consisted of; Try to put the mirena back in using a local anesthetic (4th attempt).  If that worked great if not 6 months down the line starting hormone treatment with a view to having a hysterectomy.

April 1st I went in to have my mirena put in with help from a local. This was unsuccessful as the pain was still excruciating.  I was then told well just have it done via a general - as if being knocked out is commonplace!!!!

It has taken from that day until today to actually get to speak to my consultant who now basically states that I have the choice of a mirena via a general (which I think will fall out again, after 4 attempts something tell me my body doesn't want it) or nothing as now he doesn't think I am mentally suitable for a hysterectomy (because I am scared of the general and the time off it will require).

So I am after advice from you all. What do I do, just have the mirena via a general (I have another condition called EDS which affects anesthetic as well btw) or do I push for the hormones with view to a hysterectomy in 6/8 months time.

Thanks in advance.

Firstly is your consultant a specialist on a bsge centre, secondly where was your endo found, and did they remove any if so what technique did they use, excision or burning, ???? If you can answer these questions you will get better advice, thanks xxx

Yes it is a BSGE centre (Arrowe Park Hospital) which is a plus. The endo found on the left ovary, around the left tube, the cervix and joining my bowel to womb. They performed an excision.

That was my last op Lindle. I had a diagnostic lap in Jan 13. The removal March 15.

In the same place. It is my local hospital. I am very lucky from that point of view. I was under a general gynaecologist however after having my operation cancelled 3 times (twice whilst gowned up) one of the two BSGE consultants (Dr. Rowlands) performed the op. I has never consulted with him. However in going back to my GP 6 months later I have now been assigned Dr.Aust.
