Im currently 21 and always had trouble with my periods and found symptoms to be getting worse over the past couple of years and looked up everything and its pointing towards Endo.
Is it easy to get referred to get checked out properly? Does anyone have any tips?
Hate to be a bit old fashioned but women GP's seem to be a bit more sympathetic. A endo centre referral is best way to be treated however again it depends on where.
If you have funds available I would seek a consulation with a private endo specialist consultant. If they believe your symptoms are pointing towards that ask them to write the recommendations to your GP under NHS. I've found this is a successful way to start based on others stories.
I had a history of cervical cancer (mother) so I was quite fortunate that they have me a referral quite quickly when I discussed my symptoms.
I was in the same position last two years ago (aged 20) and now have a diagnosis. The gp might first try treating with some hormones, and if you don't want to straight away try this then just keep pushing for the specialist! Just do what they say and follow their advice but keep going back and make it clear you would like to see a specialist. With all your symptoms they should understand
Ahh right thank you. Im a bit apprehensive about going because when my mum dragged me to the GP when I was about it they tried putting me on the pill and after an ultrasound they said I was okay for child bering (because that only seems to matter) and when I went a few months ago they blamed my other half for being riddled with all sorts and tried to put me on the pill. Changing doctors but still worried its going to be an uphill battle.
I found I had to push for my diagnosis, I still find it that when I go to doctor's I basically tell them what I want. I'm fed up with being polite when they are being dismissive, it's my body after all. I would go back to your GP and say you wish to be referred to a gynaecologist, preferably to a endo specialist (but that depends on where you are, you can check online for a centre near you).
