Good specialists recommendations please.

Can anyone recommend a specialist. I think I need to have a laparoscopy to find out for certain if I have Endo or not. I am so fed up of my worst symptoms. They happen around day 9 and I always seem to get what is like food poisoning symptoms and symptoms of bowel obstruction. It is making me extremely ill and I cannot eat. I have pain, sickness etc. I had a scan with a Gynae and found fibroids. One is 4,5 cm intramural on the top of my womb and my womb is retroverted. I have always thought that perhaps it could be pressing on my colon but most doctors dismissed this. The doctor I saw agreed that it could and offered to take everything out. This is not really what I want. I am also not too sure the fibroid is causing all my symptoms as every ovulation I am so sick. It starts off as food poisoning symptoms and progresses to feeling like I have an infection. It all seems to go after ovulation and my bowels work fine. I also feel like my womb swells up and have heavy dragging feeling. Pain and discomfort behind womb and stabbing in my bottom area. Also, leg pain. Ovulation is excrutiating. I have lost three stone over the last few years due to this happening every ovulation and not being able to eat.

I don't really want to have a hysterectomy as I think it maybe Endo as years ago I had a doctor say I had nodules that were indicative of Endo. As I wasn't having major symptoms I didn't have a lap.

I really would rather see a specialist rather than my Gynae. She was nice but quite rushed in her decision to whip it all out along with the ovaries.

Thanks for any recommendations

Hi,

I'm seeing Mr Pickersgill at Stockport. He's a great surgeon, specialising in endo via excision not laser, and is very importantly really patient and careing too. Never feel rushed or like just another patient and feel like I can ask him anything. I refused the coil and he'd didn't push it in the slightest either. He lets ou feel like you're in control . I would highly recommend him if Stockport isn't too far.

I'm also in the Midlands and initially had terrible rather rushed and bulldozed advice from a female consultant at Coventry hospital. Needless to say her treatment plan failed as I understood my body more than she did. After complaining I was referred to the Menstrual Disorder Clinic and am now seen by a Mr Ferrat Izzat. An amazing man who gives you information and let's you take control. I feel much more in charge now and now thanks to a careful decision I'm now into my 6th prostap injection- no more chronic pain.  Hope this helps.

Hi there

Sorry, only just saw this. I have seen Dr F I in the past. You are right about him, all the staff sing his praises too. I am glad you got sorted out. I had my appointment at the BMI on NHS. I wonder if the Consultant is the same. I saw a Dr G. Would be good to know. Thanks :)
