Rectal bleeding.

I know the answer , well I'm sure I do anyway!

For the last few months about 3-5 days before my period I have rectal bleeding having been pregnant and breastfeeding for the last couple years my periods have thankfully been at bay. But each month just gets worse and now this. I saw a gyne who essentially said come back when you're done breastfeeding (helpful!)

Rectal bleeding prior to period would you say is linked to endometriosis?

thanks

Hi! This is what I used to have with periods (mirena coil fitted so no longer get periods). I didn't know I had endometriosis until I started trying to conceive and so thought the rectal bleeding was to do with haemorrhoids or cancer! Anyway, was diagnosed with endometriosis, and put two and two together. Have never had it confirmed by anyone, but definitely is the endometriosis because of it coming just before my period.

Thanks. I know I have endometriosis since my second lap in 2006 and have always had bowl impact but this is new! Glad someone else seems to have had the same with it (not that I'm glad you had it but just nice to know I'm not the only one!)

I had to have IVF for my little boy

Glad the coil is working for you and thank you for replying x

I know, when you find out you're not alone, it's such a relief.

I have two girls, both ivf. So grateful, particularly when I think that thirty or so years ago it wasn't an option and things would have been very different.

I have just been recently diagnosed but a warrior for years!

I too have had rectal bleeding that is not through strain but comes like a period. And yes it's scared when you first see!

I have only been diagnosed with a cyst on my left ovary through a scan but I know that is the tip of the iceberg until I have a lap.

Hope hearing others with endo reassures you a bit although not nice x

I have argued with the consultants over the last year that I have endo because of rectal bleeding before my period, their answer was its very rare and in their opinion I didn't have it

. I have only just been diagnosed with endo and fibroids, unfortunately you have to fight your case, I went through 4 different consultants gyne and gastro and was so relieved when I proved them wrong! I am quite lucky as I don't suffer with much pain and its manageable. Good luck and ensure you fight your corner!
