I was just wondering if anyone else experiences rectal bleeding as a symptom? I’m not currently having periods but when I was, I would get sharp shooting pains up my bum during my period sometimes and sometimes a few spots of blood. The last few months I’ve had times where I’ve had some blood when I’ve wiped after a BM but last week I had about three days of quite a lot of blood in the toilet and on the tissue with some clots, they weren’t painful but there was a lot of blood so I was quite alarmed. Suddenly stopped after a few days - anyone else have this problem?

Rectal bleeding?
I've had blood when I wipe but only during a period. I'm undiagnosed so far, but seeking a private second opinion. I also get the knife up my bottom pain, and period cramping/sharp pains in my stomach if I need to poo. Also constipation and diarrhea xxx
Hi, I have this problem too. I tend to get horrible cramps and a feeling like I’m sat on a sharp cone when my bowels are full, and tend to see some blood every so often, usually when the pain is very bad. It’s likely that the endos on the bowels that’s causing it but any kind of blood should be checked out x
Hi I hope you don’t continue to have these issues. I have had this happen to me and on two occasions in the last 5 years the bleeding went on for a week each time. I had colonoscopies and all was ok. I didn’t get any answer to the problem. My periods also stopped and in the last couple of years I’ve had post menopausal abnormal uterine bleeding but also some blood and pink watery fluid on BM. I’m now waiting some further investigation by other consultants it’s taking forever and although I’ve asked to see an endometriosis specialist (first diagnosed more than 20 years ago) It’s not acknowledged and I just keep getting told menopause should sort it all out! Keep in touch If you like as it sounds like we are having similar Issues.
Thanks for your reply lovely, I’m sorry you’re going through all of that 😞 I’ve never had a colonoscopy so it wouldn’t surprise me if eventually they tell me I need one. I’m just hoping to finally get some answers and know what’s up with me other than “it’s just IBS” or “you just suffer with bad periods” 😒 I hope your further investigations give you some answers xx
I had this too, only during my period (I've since had a hysterectomy as I had adenomyosis as well as endo). Check out the NICE guidelines - your symptoms indicate that you have bowel involvement which means you need to see an endometriosis specialist. In England you can choose who you see, but elsewhere it's more complicated. I had stage 4 deep infiltrating endometriosis but since my second excision surgery and hysterectomy last year I've felt a million times better. I also saw a pelvic physio which I would thoroughly recommend. Good luck - ask me anything if I can help! ❤️
Thanks lovely 😘 I’m so glad you’re feeling a lot better after your surgery ❤️ I may have experienced bleeding during a BM with my periods before but not realised because I’ve had blood when I’ve wiped but thought it wasn’t from my bum but now I’m thinking it may have been because now I’m not having periods every now and again this seems to be happening. I’m seeing a BSGE endo specialist now who’s been really good and I had an mri last month and have my results with him in a few weeks but he’s thinking about performing a lap again himself (I was previously with an awful general gynae who was dismissive and did a lap and told me nothing was wrong but she didn’t even take any photos etc so he wants to do it again because of my symptoms) xx
I had bleeding that was not painful, clear red blood, quite a lot (not spots..). It turned out to be diverticula. It was seen in a colonoscopy.
I’ve had severe rectal bleeding for 5 months without relief. Have tried several front line treatments without success. Drs call this a complication of radiation called radiation proctitis. Unfortunately I’m one of the 10% of people that get the complication and fail at the treatments to correct.
Dartmouth93 there are treatments that you could try if the bleeding becomes serious. Check with your Drs for guidance.
Best of luck going forward.
