Bilateral salpingo oophorectomy

Hello all. I am new to this site so was after some advice. I am 35 years old and for the past 4 years ive had a number of health issues ranging from Diverticular Disease,Kidney stone,Depression,Back pain and chronic pelvic pain Im due to have a Bilateral Salpingo Oophorectomy at the weekend and I am really scared. I have had laparoscopies in the past and I have been fine with them but this operation I am really worried about. Has anyone had this operation before?

Is this your tubes and overies removed,

I'm sure you will be just fine, I had a total hysterectomy , in July and I recovered really well, wasn't as bad as I thought it would be,

For what condition are you having this op?

Will you be going on hrt, ?

Thanks for the reply. Yes having both ovaries and both tubes removed. My doctor put me on prostap injections for 6 months to shut my ovaries down to see how the pain was. My pains stopped so thats how he knew it was my ovaries that have been causing all this trouble. Yes i have to be on hrt til i am 51. Thank you tboag i will keep you posted xxx

Hi, just a quick message to say I had my op last Saturday and it went well. I was in a lot of pain when I came home but its getting better apart from one of my wounds being infected. Also started my HRT today as these hot flushes are a nightmare xxx

That's good to hear that your starting to feel better!! I had a rough cple of weeks at start but I'm nearly 6 weeks post op for total hysterectomy..im 34 ,and actually feel amazing..I'm going back to work next week..doing light exercise and I can't wait to get back to my dance classes I used to do! Im on a low dose Hrt and its helped with hot flushes and that weepy feeling has gone..my friends keep saying are you ok..how do you feel? but i can honestly say all i feel is happy! Its been anazing going out and not thinking have i enough pads with me..or i wd carry spare pants incase i bled through..I was using tena lady as well i was so bad before!... Like I say my first cple of weeks I was feeling pain and bleeding but it's all gone! So sending positive vibes your way..stay strong! Love and hugs x

Hi Caroline that's great to hear that you have recovered well and that you are going back to work. That is one thing that I didn't experience 'the bad bleeding' might be because i've got the Mirena coil in. The hot flushes are a nightmare so hopefully these tablets will start working soon. I've got an infection from the op and I did last time as well so now I am on antibiotics. Thanks for replying, sending love and hugs back and take care xxx
