Hysterectomy in 3 days and very scared.

Hello to all you lovely ladies out there. Feeling really scared I'm having a hysterectomy on the 6th of Jan. Was diagnosed with stage 4 endo 3 years ago, my bowel is stuck to my womb. Just wanting to know if anyone else has had this op with the same organs stuck together. Xx

Hiya Hun, I'm 4 weeks post op and my bowel ovaries and bladder were all stuck together, and wasn't sure if i would have to have a bag or not but lucky enough I never the op took longer then they thought but it was successful and already I'm starting to feel loads better and it was the best thing I did.

Try not to worry and good luck xx

If you need to know anything else I will help if I can xx

Did your op include a hysterectomy and removal of ovaries. I facing that at the end of the week, I'm just wondering if there's any issues caused by hormones in the weeks afterwards as until I got put on Zoladex I was getting headaches and poor concentration due to hormones and/or endometriosis which left me unable to do the simplest things.

I got everything removed and did suffer with headaches for the first 2 weeks but after I was put on Hrt I've been fine apart from hot flushes but there not as bad as they were when I was on prostap injections xx

Hi I am in the same situation as yourself and Sarah. My operation is the 13th Jan and feeling very nervous too :/ x

Hiya I am 10 months post total hysterectomy and complete bowel resection as a result of stage 4 endo and adenomyosis. I was on zoladex before the op and felt hideous but as promised my consultant put me on HRT a few days after the op. I can honestly say I feel amazing now and am so pleased I went ahead with the procedure. the op is very long and the anaesthetic takes a while to get out of your system. I was impressed with how well I felt after.

Keep positive it will be worth it for so many reasons x

I'm going in on 18th January my op is 19th it was supposed to be 1 December and was cancelled. I'm having a total abdomen hysterectomy. Womb cervix both ovaries Fallopian tubes and endo Stuck to bowel also so chance of bag too as I have extensive diverticulitis too so might not be able to resect. Very near my bladder too. I have adenomyosis too but worrying as I suffer from DVT and stroke which is a big deal and can't have HRT because of this! My husband died 2 years ago so don't want to leave my kids still even though they adults but have to think positive and 2016 my life will improve x good luck everyone on your operations x

No i didnt, but i would like to wish you good luck and best wishes!!! Xx

yes I was the same as you and Dr. told me hysterectomy with ovaries removed...I did pretty good with the surgery but it did not cure my endo and it cause pelvic organ prolapse...I would suggest you see an endometriosis excision specialist as this is your best chance at being well...cutting out the organs doesn't do anything but weaken your body...the disease needs to be cut out not the organs...I went on to have my organs frozen together as you describe 2 more times after the hysterectomy...it's not to late to cancel and find an excision specialist! Good luck I strongly suggest you go here for accurate and current medical research on our disease! endopaedia.info/redwine.html I have now been dealing with this disease and it's destruction from mismanagement for over 25 years ...wish I had gone to an endo specialist but we only had one when I began this journey and I unfortunately trusted my gynecologist...

if they did not excise the endometriosis like a cancer (to the root and clean perimeters around it) or left any disease inside it will continue to cause problems just like a tiny grain of sand in the eye...it's so tiny but it causes so much pain until it's gone...I suggest going here to read accurate info on this disease endopaedia.info/redwine.html I would also share with the dr. there are only about 100 gynes out 152,000 trained to manage this extensive disease in the US and in other countries the numbers go down...so it's critical to seek out the experts...if they can remove it all from the bowel, bladder and diaphragm you are in pretty good hands...it they can't and want to put you on a meds to "dry it up" so to speak...if it were me...I would seek another opinion...good luck this is a horrid disease and it's just barely beginning to be acknowledged as so even though it's been around for a very long time...

Hello. I have not had the surgery but am due a hysterectomy 8th Feb - not sure on ins and outs as full appt is upcoming so will discuss more then but hoping to retain ovaries and cervix so I know likely I will start to get some pain back.

I just wanted to wish you luck and everyone else..whikst we all can have different or similar experiences it's still rubbish hearing but also hopeful to hear successes as well.

Good luck x

I have read them and do not find them very helpful. Different people have different reactions. This post and the people on it are looking for support not scare stories and making them doubt a decision they have obviously thought long and hard about.

You have not upset me. I also have my own REAL life story but do not feel the need to spam someone else's post multiple times with information that was not asked for. I know complications are not rare but it is not something I want to read this close to surgery I prefer to think positively, if I wanted to hear about complications I would actively look for them. Good luck to you and hope you move forward with a more positive attitude, you never know what may help :)

Hi all

I have suffered with endometriosis since the age of about 18, I'm now 46 ...... In the early years it came and went and Im very proud to say I gave birth to two very healthy boys, it was hard to conceive and not really knowing the reason why i coulndt was hard, but eventually I did naturally and yes I had couple years pain free after both births, 6 years between my boys, NO pregnancy dosent cure it but for those years it was best pain relief ever for me personally. Over the next few years I was passed from doctor to doctor no one really knowing what was wrong, it would come and go then eventually the pain was just constant I bleed every day and night, my iron calcium everything was shot, I couldn't stand let alone walk anywhere, I worked for myself so every opportunity I got I went to bed, I had only been in new relationship 12 nth ...... It was hell. I then had the humiliation of internals whilst bleeding, every scan you can mention, I had 6 months on injections plus hrt to counteract them, with eventually having my womb going away party a month before my 40th - yes me and my girlfriends actually had a party because I belived I would be pain free yippee, the operation took 10 hours I needed emergency bowel surgery because my womb was stuck on my bowel but no one knew until it came out, recovery was long but the pain was gone. I suffered with my bowel but after 12 months it eased my life was becoming my own again until 2yrs later when I knew the pain I'd woken up with wasn't normal back ache ........ The circle happened again different doctors not listening, no one could decide if I had one two or no ovaries, back on the injections I went and then another major op 8 hrs, 5 surgeons because gyno wouldn't do it without endo specialist, who wanted a bowel surgeon who requested two general surgeons ...... my bladder got damaged not good and recovery was even longer but the pain had eased ....... eventually surely I could have my life back no more pain no more menopause no more vitamin supplements, I changed my career I went out to work, good good I hear you shout but no sorry no happy ending just yet I'm back at my doctors demanding I see a endo specialist again ..... what I'm trying to say is I've had every treatment going and yes I've thought long and hard about every decision, yes its all been very scary at times and yes its not always worked out as it should have but after every time I've had some relive from the pain so was it all worth it at the time I think so and every time I've learnt a little more and got my self more prepared and no matter how Ill I am I won't let it beat me. I found the best remedy for the menopause is yoga and mindfulness being in control of the panic attacks ..... and yes I'm back self employed because again I needed to be in control of my time off - I take my hat off to you who hold down a full time employed job as well because one things for sure once endo gets a hold you've got a 'friend' for life eh?

You must do what you feel is right for you and face it head on, stand tall and plan nice things for after your recovery enjoy the pain free days more than ever support each other, don't let it beat us xx

I did have the exact same procedure done 11 years ago and went on with endometriosis growing even after castration...I have had frozen pelvis 2 times since for endo because endo needs to be cut out not the organs it has taken 2 more surgeries~one being 6.5 hours long to try to get my pelvis well and I am having surgery again in 10 days...Good luck to you! I wish you the best!
