Hi Arlene,

Please ask your specialist why he has put you on HRT. Endometriosis feeds off eostrogen and there are many incidences of Endo recurring after HRT treatment. What kind of specialist is he? General gynae or Endometriosis specific? I would be asking some serious questions myself and doing a lot of reading. What injection is he giving you as well?

Please look at the Endo and diet section of this site, and read some of Lindle and Brounlow's posts as they know what they are talking about.

I know it may sound daft, but what you eat can make a massive difference to how endometriosis attacks your system. You can gain some control back by being aware of what you are putting into your body. As I said, endo loves eostrogen and feeds off it, growing all the time. Restrict those foods and the 'dioxin' foods that stop your liver from flushing the nasties out and you help your yourself. For instance soy products are like candy to an endometriosis gremlin, stop eating it, the gremlin can't grow.

Please look into the HRT question. I would not touch it with a barge pole, but that is only my opinion! Every endo sufferer is different and what works for one, may not work for another.

Good luck

Wishing you health and happiness

Maud

Hi Arlene,

Some people have had great results with Prostap, so I hope it really works for you too. It's good that you have an endo-specialist and a doctor that has recognised your needs. So many people get referred to a general gynae who just aren't trained in the right areas!

As with any drugs, you may have some or none of the side effects. You are effectively being put into a state of false menopause, the HRT is to keep your bone density from dropping. A lot of the side effects are probably what you are already feeling anyway, so you might not even notice them as new. The specialist is probably hoping that the Prostap is going to shrink the lesions, do the lap, and get rid of as much as possible.

Good luck.

I was on zoladex for two years which is similar. Youre only supposed to stay on it for six months but it was the only thing that worked for me - unfortunately staying on it so long left me with some lasting hormonal issues which took several years to resolve.

For me the side effects were weight loss, loss of breast tissue, some hair thinning, mood swings and hot flushes. However, they were nothing compared to the improvement in my pain and fatigue so I put up with them. I didn't take HRT as I was worried about it making the Endo worse.

Hi. I dont know if you are still in this forum. I am struggling with all the side effects you spoke about. I am scared. I was suicidal at the weekend. It has made my depression worse. Its the hair thinning that is the worst. Did you have any solutions??There has to be an alternative to this. Its a shame because i have been pain free. On balance, for me, i cant chance the side effects of my mental health. Hope you are well now. X
