Hi everyone, after 10 years or horrific symptoms many doctors called 'normal' and after 6 years constantly on the pill, my periods got lighter and pain lessened. But I continued with deep pelvic pain which grew to effect my entire health. I was finally diagnosed with endometriosis (pre-surgery) in November at Lewisham hospital.
I was referred for a laparoscopy in Feb and I am still awaiting on a date. The waiting is driving me insane now, I'm in a lot of pain and the new pill I've been put on is just horrible.
I've heard a lot of women stress its very important to be seen by a specialist surgeon, I have no idea what that means or how to find out if mine is?
My gynaecologist was very nice and helpful. His examination of me found 'irregularity on palpitation in the left poserior laternal fornix' this, he believes, means I am likely to endo. A transvaginal x-ray showed I have free fluid in the Pouch of Douglas and polysitic ovaries.
Does anyone understand what this exactly means? I'm not sure if my case is normal and can be done by any surgeon, or if these findings mean I should push to ensure I'm seeing an endometriosis specialist?
Any help greatly appreciated! I hate feeling so helpless and not knowing whats happening inside my own body!
Thanks all
K xx
