I had my first laparoscopy on the 13th of March and I am currently having my first period since the laparoscopy. The laparoscopy made my period a few days late ( I had just had a period before I had my lap).
I had read some posts about what to expect pre op with first period. A lot of people have said that the first one is painful because you aren't completely healed inside and think this is correct.
I really felt my ovulation a lot this month I had a day where it felt really crampy. I also started feeling cramps about 4 days before my period started.
When it did start the bleeding was heavy and I did have really bad pain, but I think it's different for each of us some people said it was fine and lighter than normal for them.
I would just make sure you have plenty of painkillers and what saved me the first day was a hot water bottle that I had on my stomach pretty much all day.
I am now 3 days in and the bleeding has slowed and the pain is a lot better.
I hope that helps I think just prepare for some pain and if it isn't that bad then that's great.
Hi Jo. I had a lap in December. I had about 12 days bleeding post op but no period for about 2 months after that, and same again subsequently. I might not be a good indicator though cos my periods have always been irregular.
My period was always regular and I had my periods after 4 days of lap. It was normal and subsequent cycles are also fine.
