Hi, I had the pros tap injection for a period of 18 month and it worked great for me. While having the injections I had very little pain and no periods which was well received after a long time of being in pain. There is side effects which vary with each person and I experienced headaches, a few bits of extra body hair and hot flushes. The side effects didn't worry me too much as it was over all better than being in pain without the pros tap injection. Good luck xxxx
I was on it the year before last for 3 months before IVF and my endo symptoms were non existent! I had hot flushes most days but no headaches and felt better than I had in years. The hot flushes were a bit intense but passed quickly and as Kayleigh says, were so worth it to reduce the other awful symptoms I was having.
Hi I'm on prostap as we speak, i have monthly injections and it really does work. My gynaecologist put me on them in June last year to see if my pain would respond and i can honestly say its been a life saver. I couldn't walk or stand for long periods but with this my symptoms are gone. The only problem is is that you really need to stay on top of the injections as your pain comes back when your ovaries start to work again. The hot flushes are a nuisance but its so much better than pain. When I was first offered this drug I was really worried but I'm so glad i tried it now. Give it a go for 3 months as it takes about 4-5 weeks to get into your system and see if it works. Loads of hugs Rachel xx 😊
Had a six month course to try and get some relief from bleeding and anaemia. It stopped my periods for around eight months and gave me an insight into what 'normal' life might be like.
Decided to have Mirena coil fitted towards end of treatment, and now having periods again but much reduced symptoms.
The other effects are clearly not to be dismissed, but for me there was no way things could carry on as they were. I was ok with some flushes and bit of hair loss that's gone back to normal now.
Im afraid mine is a negative comment. I was put on Prostap last year and 8 days after first injection started with terrible gastro problems which im still suffering with now. I only had one more injection as gynae doc couldn't say one way or the other if it was due to Prostap but couldn't take the risk. It started with horrendous acid reflux and has gone on to having terrible stomach pains. I am on so many pills for this I rattle and have lost 2 stone in 5 months through not being able to eat anything. On the plus side while the Prostap was in my system the endo pain was much better.
I've been on prostap for nearly a year with hrt back up as well. No problems to mention really apart from pmt symptoms week before next injection is due. Get my last jag on 27th of this month. Can safely say im dreading if I haven't went through menopause as I get married in June and don't want to be back to square one. No two people are the same, it may help you it may not. For me it's been a life saver. Good luck with whatever you decide to do x
