Any suggestions on best way to control pain whilst at work. Been taking ibuprofen and pregabalin with no improvement. Hot water bottle helps more but can't obviously use that at my desk. Looking for to my lap just so I can't get some peace. Thanks in advance.

Pain control
Hi Miracle77 sorry to hear you are in pain. If you dont drive to work ask your GP to prescribe you with codeine phospate. That with paracetamol normally works but beware as it makes you a little feeling like high, lol, and can cause constipation. Before taking, make sure you are not allergic to the ingredients though. I hope you have your lap done very soon and Goodluck,!
Hi, sorry to hear your in pain Have you tried these heat pads that you stick over the top of your knickers? You may have to wear massive pants but they actually surprisingly do help.

Pretty much every supermarket and chemist will have some form/brand of them, this was just a suggestion to show you what i meant incase you hadn't seen them. They are quite expensive if your going to be using one every day, but along with painkillers it may help. I would get yourself to the doctors and explain your in a lot of pain and need something stronger but that you will be at work so need to keep your wits about you (last time i went they were going to prescribe oramorph, but then when i said i was a childminder and i needed to drive they put me on something that wouldn't make me drowsy). Theres plenty of options - mefenamic acid, naproxen, another one but i cant remember the name - its a bit like ibuprofen but stronger and targets the pain better.
Anyway i hope your feeling better soon, and good luck with your lap when you have it done!

Hi - those heat pads are great but you can get the much cheaper online on Amazon (I just bulk bought loads). I currently take naproxen (500mg - kind of a stronger form of ibuprofen) which does work but when the pain gets really bad not much takes the edge off. I take naproxen and in between that paracetamol with codeine (which you can take with anti-inflammatories). And also use those heat pads, hot water bottles (I gave up trying to look professional at work as wasn't able to do my job properly without easing the pain!) and baths. I wrap the hot water bottle in something so it isn't so obvious. My office is quite informal so not a big deal, but I guess it depends on your type of job/office environment!
Hi There, I used Diclofenac 3-4 times when at work to reduce the pain. And i take warm milk with 1 tea spoon turmeric to reduce the internal swelling due to endo pain during periods which helps me alot
I find visualisation helpful. Sophrology for me has been great! it isn't a complete cure for me yet, but definitely takes the edge off the pain. Learning to listen to our body when we are in pain really helps. I know you must be thinking What?!! But when we focus on our body and acknowledge the pain rather than our racing minds it does take the energy out of the pain so it is less acute. Long deep breathing and if all else fails for me it is Codéine and a heat pad. Yes I am human ;0).
If I can help at all with the Sophrology feel free to message me.
Big hugs

You could try a TENS machine - some of them, such as OVA, are very discreet - I use one at work as I'm stood up all day and can't use a heatpad (I'm in a kitchen too, so its hot enough already!). You can get them at chemists, BOOTs etc, but I got mine off Ebay considerably cheaper.
Cheers for the suggestions. The tens I couldnt use at work although I do like the idea of the curaheat packs or similar so will invest in a few of those as I could keep them in place with my underwear and use at work without anyone knowing.
