Hi i went to follow up appointment at hospital, 3 months after lap confirming adenomoysis.A small area found.
The dr i saw today said as it was so minimal ,there was nothing she could do,i tried to explain my severe symptoms ,but apparently, pain killers should help ,
Do i get a second opinion

Please don't ever be afraid to ask for a second opinion hun. It saved my life on one occasion (for a neurological problem) I spent years being fobbed off about my stomach problems. I had been diagnosed with PCOS at 15 & told that the other problems were probably just IBS. Last year I finally got referred to a specialist after collapsing with pain. Had a lap in April this year & they found that I had stage 4 endo on my uterus, ovaries, bowel, bladder, rectum, pouch of douglas in & my abdominal cavity, as well as adenmyosis & the PCOS. A colonoscopy a few weeks ago also confirmed that the endo had penetrated into my bowel, & my gp is worried about my kidneys because I keep having infections, & its being decided on what should be done next. I was told that if they'd maybe have done the lap alot sooner it may not have got to the stage that it was at now, so please, if you're not happy then get a second opinon. Best of luck hun xx
Get a second opinion. "minimal" does not mean minimal symptoms. This is a classic error. Also, was a hysterectomy discussed? Possibly this was not raised because the doctor thought you were too young to consider this but you should at least be given the right to discuss, consider and decide for yourself. Medically speaking, a hysterectomy is the only surgical was to eradicate adenomyosis.
Did she discuss the possibility of the mirena coil? I personally do not know if this would be possibly effective.
I also suggest that you consider changing your diet and lifestyle. A new book (on endo but adeno is effectively endo within the uterine wall) has lots of great strategies to help your body heal amazon.co.uk/Pain-Peace-End... She also has a great blog peacewithendo.com
I implemented many of the same strategies and things have improved greatly. Many people complain that the 'endo diet' does not work. I largely think that this is because simply altering your diet is insufficient and many other aspects need to be addressed that the medical profession seems unable to comprehend or bother telling us about. I went to a naturopathic doctor instead and found her really helpful.
Good luck. x
I'm sorry you are suffering. I had adenomyosis, only found out after my hysterectomy. The only cure for it is a hysterectomy I'm afraid. I felt so much better afterwards. Good luck...xx
I have just had a hysterectomy due to adenomyosis and fibroids. There are two types of adeno. Focal... Where the disease is found in one area of the uterus and diffuse... Where the disease is found throughout the muscular wall if the uterus.
The only cure for adenomyosis is a hysterectomy and a hysterectomy is the only definitive way to diagnose adeno.
The next step for you depends on whether you have had children if you want them. The pain you experience doesn't relate to the amount of disease you have. So it's very shortsighted of your doctor to offer you only pain medication to help you.
Please ask your doctor to refer you for a second opinion.
Thank you all for your comments, i"m 46 had my beautiful daughters and my family complete.I asked the dr at the clinic, (i add this was not the gynie whom performed the procedures,) about a hysterectomy, she looked at me as if i was mad, and asked me if i knew how major this operation was!! and that it would nt cure my symptoms, when i started talking about the problems with my bowel as well, she said that was not her area and i should go back to my gp.
Im at a complete loss, im thinking of writing to the gynie whom performed lap and hsterscopy,he said after the op that the symptoms i had could be because of the adeynomosis and to go to his clinic to discuss, which i did (ref dr first talked about)
How do i go about getting further opioions, sorry about bad grammar ,its late and im exhausted.
