Hi, on waiting list for hysterectomy, keeping my ovaries. Having it done laproscopically. Consultant said recovery time 4 weeks. Just interested in hearing from anyone who's had it done and how long was your recovery time approx. Thanks.

I had the same op as you along with a radical excision of my endo done just 3 weeks ago and I am back driving, shopping, hoovering, baking and most stuff really. Just avoiding any thing heavy for a bit longer. Everyone who's had a traditional Hysto is amazed at my recovery and lack of scaring... X good luck.

Hi I have my hysterectomy 4 weeks ago and I know that i not ready to go back to work yet, my pain from the endo is gone but the op pain is still there when I do to much, my doctor has signed me off for 6 weeks but with the possibility of needing 8 weeks. The hysterectomy is the best thing I have ever done feel like a new person

Hello! I had severe endo and before my op was housebound and living on very strong painkillers. I had a laparoscopic hysterectomy and removal of endo on 6th May this year and I am better than I have been for years. I felt the difference on day 2, I was able to sit down without the feeling of sitting on a spike every time!! The recovery was fast and quite amazing really, I was up and about (slowly of course) but like Mrs HCP I too was making myself busy and driving at 5 weeks. Just make sure that you don't overdo it though after and definitely do not lift anything heavy.

Hope it goes well and good luck XX

It all depends on you aswelll. I had hysterectomy and my mate did at the same time I listened t my body n rested f 4wks just doing odd light bits then gradually introduced other stuff . my friend thought ooh I feel great n over did things from about 2 wks on wards and ended up making her recovery longer as she exhausted herself. If u listen to ur body u will be fine. u may not have the pain etc it the tiredness and lack of energy tht u need t listen to and rest if need be have a nana nap u heal while sleeping. good luck I had hysterectomy (womb cervix n one ovary removed ) march and then had emergency op 3 wks later t remove other ovary.

I am having my laproscopic hysterectomy this Tuesday. I have severe Endo which has given me a 'frozen pelvis' I also have adenomyosis.

My right ovary is being removed but I am keeping my left one.

I was told to allow a two night stay in hospital. I asked about work and I was told I would probably need to be off for three to four weeks.

By what I have read the hardest things about this surgery are the gas pains and the fatigue.

I really hope everything goes well for you.

Best wishes,

Barbara x
