Hi

I'm think about getting some books that give me more information on endo and also the endo diet. Can anyone recommend any good ones?

I don't have any book recommendations - because books get out of date so fast.

There are plenty of books on endo available through public libraries for free, or can be picked up on ebay and other 2nd hand online sellers for just a few pence plus postage.

But for the most uptodate information stick to looking online - there are hundreds of informative websites and blogs, using a search engine like google is all you need to access them.

Remember to use correct spellings, medical terms in full,

Google images is an excellent way to find photos of endometriosis and surgical procedures.

As I find these websites I save them in 'favourites' and go back to every now and then to refer to their information.

Here's just a few that you might find helpful:

If you take GnRH drugs-they shut down the pituitary gland - so the following website gives you run down of the hormones that a shut down will affect in terms of side effects

pituitary.org.uk/informatio...

webmd.com/drugs/index-drugs... this website is superb for checking individual ingredients of supplements you might be considering taking and user reviews of drugs DO USE THE USA version not the UK one. The USA one is so much better.

...also same website

webmd.com/vitamins-suppleme... gives you a sample of checking side effects, interactions and doses. just click on the green tabs and the search box to the right is where you would type in the specific ingredients one at a time.

All drug patient information leaflets are freely available online, just google the drug name and the words "patient information leaflet"

Never just rely on that document alone - but also google the drug name and side effects or drug name and law suits , drug name and clinical trials, drug name and research, and you should find all sorts of extra information from which you can make a better informed decision about whether it is something that would be worth trying. You know your own medical history, allergies, drug reactions better than any doctor will have time to know.

A lot of those website have multiple pages dealing with endo related issues - so there really is a vast amount of info freely available online...just got to go looking for it.

That's just a selection of the ones that I have saved in my favourites over the years...there are hundreds and hundreds more available using a search engine.

It is a huge area of study because it affects ladies in so many ways. There is no book that could possible do justice to the subject of endometriosis and all the complications that arise, from anatomical problems, medicines - their safety, doses, ingredients and so on, surgery -techniques, scans, protocols for treating the various aspects of endo, what we eat and drink, what supplements we are safe to use, how to prepare before, during and after surgery, the list is practically endless.

Most topics have already been raised and discussed on the forum many times, so using this forum search box on the green bar will also hep you find many answers too.

Use google book search to look for books and papers on specific terms

e.g. Extragenital endometriosis

google.co.uk/search?q=extra...

or just searching the term endometriosis gives

google.co.uk/search?q=extra...

hope that you can find answers in among all of those websites.

I found Endometriosis for Dummies useful - it explains everything in laymans terms and is a good starter book. I got a cheap copy from amazon. I will be checking out some of the websites Impatient has listed though!
