Had lap 3 months ago now and still get odd pains in my shoulders, could this still be from the gas perhaps?

Also, I have been told I have endo in lining of my womb and to begin a family ASAP. Has anyone else had this and been able to get pregnant?

Thanks for your help!

Can't honestly say when I developed adenomyosis, but I had always suffered extremely dibilatating periods at an early age, suspected endometriosis but hadn't even learned about the adeno until after 3 laps and pain still continuing with recurrent extensive endometriosis, I had my first lap in 1997 my kids were born in 1989 it's actually my son's 25th birthday today and my daughter in 1993, had my second lap in1999 my third in 2002 and my hysterectomy for adenomyosis in 2003. I used to black out on the toilet when I was young and having my period. The pain definately layed me out but my kids were born with all 10 fingers and 10 toes, so greatful too they and my husband are my entire life. Had to sign resignation papers for my career in management that I worked 10 years to get in1997. Alot of sacrifices had to be made to take care of myself in order to be able to take care of them. But it was my priority.

Please check with your surgeon what he or she means? Endo cells are the exact same cells that the womb lining is made up of - endometriosisis the name given to those cells when they are found outside of the womb, not where they are supposed to be which is the lining of the womb.

I do wonder if you have misunderstood the surgeon or he did not make it clear to you, and was actually saying that you have adenomyosis. This is a separate but very similar condition to endometrosis.

Adenomyosis only grows inside the womb muscle walls and no where else. it does not compromise your fertility.

It does bleed every period just like the lining of the womb will bleed-but that blood is trapped in the walls of the womb making them lump and painful as any muscle bruising would do.

There is a website allabout adenomyosis

adenomyosisadviceassociatio...

If it turns out to be that.

What it will not be is endometriosis in womb lining because that is not endometriosis, it is called the endometrium or endometrial lining and that is the right place for those cells so nothing would be wrong in finding endo cells there- that is where they are supposed to be.

If it is adenomyosis - the only cure is a hysterectomy when you have finished baby making but there is no urgency for that as you can to some extent stop or reduce your periods and ease the symptoms each month till you are ready for a family.

There is certainly something very wrong or confusing with the information you have been given. Contact you GP for a copy of the written report from your surgeon as a 1st step, then if that throws up questions - write to your surgeon and ask for clarification.

It is important to understand exactly which of the two diseases you do have, and from that you will be able to research what option your have for treatments and what if any harm it may be doing to your fertility.

Hiya. A condition called Adenomyosis used to be called endometriosis interna or internal endometriosis as it is found within the muscle wall of the womb. Its good that your consultant has used lay persons language so that you can atleast picture it but in order to be able to look into it further it is useful to have the medical name also. There is a website and facebook group called adenomyosis advice association which is very good. There are also other adeno facebook support groups full of others ladies specifically with adeno so there are a lot of support out there so you're not on your own :-) Is your shoulder pain on the right side & cyclical at all? May be an indication of endo on the diagram if so? Lots of great advice and discussions fairly recently from specialists about this on a facebook group called EndoMetropolis if you wanted to join. Hope this helps x
