Massage is good, but not at the wound sites which are just begining to heal and don't want to be pummeled right now when they are most fragile, just keep on walking about pottering around the ward or the house - keep the circulation going, take pain killers of course, and peppermint tea, or windeeze tablets too can help, but to get it jiggled out of the pockets the gas gets trapped in, moving is your best option.

Do not under any circumstances add to the gas problem by drinking fizzy drinks.

It's the same gas CO2 used in fizzy pop, so stick to water which is much better for hydration and healing too.

Above all don't be shy in farting or burping it out at every opportunity - this is not a time to be shy about such things, the quicker you get rid of it by which ever end it wants to escape, the less pain you will be in. Forget your dignity and pride - get that gas out asap.

I found that the neck things that have oats or something in them that you put in the microwave helped me. After heating it I draped it over one shoulder for about ten minutes each time, never tried a massage sorry x

Peppermint tea is a massive help I've had 4 laps now and find it really helps bring the wind up (you do need to drink a fair few cups for it to work though) and generally just moving/walking around the ward as soon as you feel up to it. Xx

I found that soft mints really helped because I would get sudden shoulder pain and couldn't wait for the kettle to boil for the peppermint tea!! I'm sure I've read that anything with mint in it is helpful and I just found that having a minty sweet gave me some relief quite quickly.

Ugh I remember that. Only thing that helped me was moving/walking around. Which is the last thing you feel like doing while recovering. If you can, gently walk around, shrug shoulders, get it out! Good luck and I hope you feel better soon.

I have had 11 laps in my lifetime due to endometriosis. Right now I have what I think is a Gas Pocket on my right side above my breast and goes in armpit sometimes. It kind of feels like when I had a lap done and the gas traveled to a part in your body cavity. Do you think this is what I have right now that I am expirencing?
