3 months Prostap and 3 months mini pill before ttc.

Hi Everyone. Some of you may have read my previous posts...I've recently had an op to remove a rather large nodule of endo from my bladder. (Was in between bladder and uterus) Surgery was a success, and thankfully no endo else where, ovaries and tubes all normal. The advice from my gynae was 3 months prostap, and 3 months mini pill before ttc again (trying for a year prior) Because the bladder surgery was fairly complicated the advice given was wait 6 months before ttc anyways to avoid further bladder probs. I'm on month 2 of prostap and so far it's been fine. I'm just wondering if anyone else has been in a similar position and managed to conceive naturally after surgery and treatment? I was told by my gynae that even though the nodule wasn't impacting on ovaries or tubes mainly bladder, just by the nature of it being there was having a negative impact on fertility. So I'm hoping now that it's gone completely, we may have a better chance of having a baby. It's so hard to remain positive sometimes, the unknown is scary! Sorry for the long post, any advice would be great! Xxx

Hi

For once I can offer a positive story! I had radical excision last August and October (2 stage op) for stage 4 endo which was everywhere with ovaries stuck upside down, bowel uterus and bladder stuck, nasty nodule between uterus and bowel plus other nasties! I was on prostap for about 11 months leading up to the surgery and my cycles returned at end of January - I was desperate to get back to ttc but not having my periods whilst recovering from the surgery worked really well for me and my gynae thought it would give me a better 3-6 month window to conceive. And..... I am now 7 weeks pregnant! We started trying over 3 years ago and I had lost hope and didn't feel ivf was right for me so for it to happen naturally after everything that's happened has came as a massive surprise! So it is possible so please don't give up hope! x

Hayls- Thanks you so much for your reply and huge congratulations! it's very encouraging to hear positive news. The uncertainty is such an awful feeling, and trying to stay positive is sometimes difficult. I'm hoping that after Christmas we can start trying again and fingers crossed we'll have success.

Did they remove all your endo?

How long did it take for your period to return after stopping the prostap?

As I'm going straight onto the mini pill for 3 months, I'm not sure it'll take longer than usual or if it'll be like when I came off the pill before? Periods back to normal pretty much straight away when I came off pill before.

I feel a bit clueless and stressing! Xxx

I've switched the stress of ttc with the stress of early pregnancy! Literally terrified with every twinge and haven't let myself believe that it really is happening!

Yes my endo was completely removed, it was major surgery and took months to recover, unfortunately follow-up scan showed left ovary has stuck to abdominal wall but it's caused me no pain (until I got pregnant!). It took about 5 months from when my last prostap injection ran out for my periods to come back which is about average - ran out in September and period came back end of Jan and cycles have been longer than before (went from regular 27-28 days to 31-32 days, not such a bad thing but frustrating for ttc!), I would guess that by the time you stop the mini pill the prostap will be well on its way to working itself out of your system, just be aware that it's advised not to get pregnant in the first 5 months after the last prostap runs out as it's high risk on the baby.

Good luck, il keep my fingers crossed for you! x
