Hii all, well I consider myself a bit of a expert when it comes to bleeding all the time & passing clots, visiting gp in & out of hrs, numerous admissions to control my pain & blood transfusions.....it started after my 1st son 15yrs ago & I was 27yrs old & I battled with the specialist-doctors-consultant until I was 34yrs old!!!!!

7yrs of constant pain, bleeding heavy with clots, numerous hospital admissions for pain relief, scans then they tried medication & injections for the Endometriosis but it always came back after a few wks  I was given a Laparoscopy to confirm how bad it was then I had a full Hysterectomy with my ovaries at 34yrs old....it put me through the menopause instantly but that was a piece of cake compared to Endometriosis, I am now 42yrs old & never looked backed  totally pain free,no bleeding & no hospital admissions.

If anyone would like some advice please ask!!!!!!

I have severe Endo and adenomyosis. I am having a hysterectomy in September/October. My right ovary is going but they will try and preserve the left one. I will also probably need my bowel "shaved"

My surgery will be done by an Endo specialist and it will be performed by laparoscopy.

I would appreciate any advice you have about this procedure... I'm a little scared!

I have had Endo since 1991 and I'm now 43 years young !

Best wishes,

Hi Barbara....well you certainly have got a lot to deal with in the next upcoming months but I can put your mind to rest & say you won't look back!!!!

Because I had a full hysterectomy & they took both my ovaries it put me straight through the menopause but you should be ok because they are leaving 1 in.....do you have children? I had 3 boys very very luckily although I went into labour at 25wks with my youngest due to the endometriosis :(

So my chances of trying for a girl was a no no & they decided to take my ovaries & the endometriosis would be gone because it had shown on them but only marginal & they said it would be another operation further down the line to remove them & I got to admit it was the right choice for me.

The surgery itself went really....they cut

......sorry my screen froze lol

They cut me on my line just below bikini line so it is well hidden & very neat-i also had 2 c-sections so it was all very neat!!! As for pain I was given a Patient Controlled Analgesia also known as a PCA, this has morphine & a anti sickness drug in & it is a machine at side of your bed & you are given a button & can press it when ever you have pain....it does not matter how many times you press it because it will only allow so much per hour so no chance of over dosing yourself.

My recovery was pretty much straight forward, I had a catheter inserted in theatre for 2days just to give everything a chance to settle back down & I was mobilising within 2days....very slowly but if your in pain ask for the pain relief because the morphine pump is only up for maximum 2days but may be different with other patients.

I found it hard at home with 3 kids & not being able to drive for a few & taking it easy!!! It drove me insane but I learnt the hard way because if I did too much I was in agony, my best advice is get all the help you can from family & friends & don't try being superwomen lol

I started on my HRT the day after surgery & its called Sandrena Gel-its in a small foil packet & you tear it open & its a gel & you rub it into your thigh on alternative days.....thats it & I have been on it since :)

My stitches disolved nicely & I had no infections but just be careful because lifting, bending & stretching will pull at it.

As for my menopause I still have flushes but not as severe as they were in the early days, I have adapted to it & so have my family....I have a fan on in the bedroom even in winter & I dont dress for the weather I dress for me so if in winter I am hot I wear my vest tops with a coat not a jumper, this way your flushes are limited & your hair is not wet with sweat.

Also keeping your weight down is a huge bonus I find,if I eat healthy & go the gym or exercise I don't have as many flushes as when I go up a dress size so I keep to a realistic target 12-14 size!!!!

If you want any more advice please ask.
