however it has come back worse than ever. I was just wondering if anyone had any information that could help me. Thanks in advance!
Hi, I've recently got diagnosed with Endo... - Endometriosis UK
Hi, I've recently got diagnosed with Endometriosis and got a Laparoscopy about 6-7 weeks ago. I thought it would get rid of the pain
Did they tell you exactly what they did during the lap? If they didnt remove all the existing endo, you will still have pain. It can also come back. Have you got a follow-up appointment booked?
You haven't really described the nature of your pain and I'm not sure where you had endo removed from but there could be a few possibilities:
1) If it was removed from your pelvic wall then your ovary might have stuck to your pelvic wall. Two cauterised areas are very likely to bond together. Adhesions e.g internal scarring are one of the most common reasons for pain after surgery for endometriosis.
2) you could have a condition called adenomyosis which is essentially endometriosis in the uterine wall. This can only be diagnosed by MRI and the only say to deal with it permanently is to remove the uterus.
3) the first period after a lap is always usually very painful and heavy and most women fear the surgery hasn't worked. The best time to assess yourself is usually 4 months post op. The body takes a long time to completely heal.
4) If you had it removed from the bladder etc then you could have a urine infection or similar
5) you might be ovulating which can be more sensitive after surgery
Just a few ideas!
Thanks for those ideas! Sorry I prob should just start from the beginning. I had surgery last September because of pain in my right side and they thought it was my appendix but when they done the surgery they noticed that my bowel was connected to my abdomen and that I had alot of adhesions. They never mentioned anything about endometriosis or why I had the adhesions. The pain still continued as the months went on and my half of my right leg and side went numb and it was very hard to walk when I was in pain. I was on the pill yaz at the time but I got taken off that because it didn't suit me so I was put on Cerazette. I then went to a private specialist that deal with endometriosis and a month later he done the surgery. They found the endo deposits on my uterus and told me to stay on cerazette until I see him next. Since I'm on this pill I don't get any periods at all now.
It could well be adhesions yet again unfortunately. It's a huge downside to having endometriosis and surgery for endo. I would think it would be too early for a recurrence of your endo! I think you are right to have brought your appointment forward with your specialist. Good luck xx
