Can u still have the minera coil whilst having cysts?
Having the coil doesn't matter whether you have active cysts or not, they won't be meeting up down there.
However...Mirena is known to increase the likely hood of cysts.
It is fab and I rate it highly but.. I have had one cysts burst and either it refilled or another grew in its place very soon afterwards. This has happened since the mirena.
Prior to the Mirena I got my first cysts after I was 40, and had a 6cm and 8cm endometriomas removed, and had an endometrioma burst too. All in a relatively short time frame and just months before the Mirena went in.
So I can't be certain not yet having had a scan, if the new cyst is a regular fluid filled cyst or an endometrioma cyst. Or whether it was encouraged by having a mirena or would have developed anyway even without having a mirena.
It is attached to my one remaining ovary so I do know it is an ovarian cyst as opposed to any other kind one might get.
I'd say that despite the increased risks of cysts, it is still well worth trying the mirena for all the other myriad of benefits if it works for you and stops the periods.
If you are having surgery to remove the two cysts then that is most definitely absolutely the time to have the miena put in. Get it done while you are out for the count on general anaesthetic. It is ordinarily a painful experience having it installed so many many endo ladies report, and if you get the chance to have that done without knowing a thing about it...then jump at the chance. By far it is the best way.
Dear Cat35.
If you do go ahead and have the mirena inserted, please INSIST the doctors give you regular scans to monitor those cysts.
Best wishes.
