In my first lap in Jan dey didn't actually do anything just looked inside me but no it wasn't too sore afterwards at all. I didn't use d pain killers dey gave me and I was back in work after a week although in hind sight it was too soon.

Sleeping was d most uncomfortable thing as I sleep on my side and could feel d air bubbles building up in my side (u get filled with gas so the surgeon can see inside better and they don't get it all out in the op) and moving around d bed was uncomfortable. U really don't realise how much you use your stomach muscles.

Also laughing hurts for a couple of weeks.

Nothing too dramatic tho. It was my first op ever so was quite nervous

Hi Ellif

It can be more uncomfortable than painful after the op so remember to take things easy-especially when you get home from hospital. Try not to bend down or stretch up for things and definitely no housework! If you have been given anti-inflammatories on discharge then they will help relieve the pain caused by the surgeon and take painkillers if you need to. Also if you have pain from the gas that was pumped into you during the op try peppermint tea or eating peppermints as this helps take the pain away.

Most hospitals give you a sicknote for a week or two but make sure you are fully ready to go back to work. This will depend if you have a desk based job or a more active role. Dont go back to soon though as Classiebird says she did as it may interefere with the healing process.

Have you got a date yet for your op? Good luck when it happens
