Iv been in been told its ibs or endo they don't know which and will need to investigate more. Iv been for an ultra sound discovering nothing and my gp has now got a letter through telling him he believes this is 'psycho sexual' due to an unfaithful ex. Does this mean he thinks its all in my head? How can it be in my head if I have symptoms????

It is so frustrating when drs don't listen to us when we know our bodies and are the ones suffering! I lost count with the times I was always fobbed off with "some women suffer more than others" and "that's a period for you!"..they were also by a gyno too! It wasn't until a few years ago when I was 27 that I finally saw a gyno who listened and agreed that it was endo! However, when I have been back to my GP they referred me to a gastroenterologist who said that endo didn't cause the bowel problems so he believed it was IBS! Even tho a gyno has said it is endo and when you read about endo it is a symptom that it can affect your bowels. I remember a lady on this site saying that IBS is not a diagnosis as it doesn't say what is irritating the bowel!
The gyno should know that a ultra sound scan will not show up endo! The only definitive way of knowing is to have a Laproscopy. You have every right to ask to see another gyno if this one has discharged you.
Please forgive me if I am wrong, but I guess that one of your symptoms is painful sex, as the gyno has said it is 'psycho sexual'. Yes some women suffer from painful intercourse because they tense up and it more psychological than physical. However with endo it is def physical and again you know your body best, so I bet you are extremely upset with their opinion it is all in your head!
Please do not give up trying to get a definitive diagnosis. It is annoying, upsetting, stressful and frustrating and can take on average 8 years to get a final diagnosis. I hope your GP listens and that you get some help and a more thorough investigation done. x
Hi. so sorry you don't seem to be getting anywhere. Sounds like IBS and endo. From my experience anyway. Hope my story helps you. A few years ago I was diagnosed with IBS. This year after my lap I was told I have endo. My first gynae appointment I had an internal examination... Tmi... My pouch of Douglas was very tender and painful... The gynae explained that my symptoms of painful intercourse (and my other symptoms) was likely to be from the pouch of Douglas and that this is a common site for endo. The gynae confirmed the diagnosis of endo from my lap and I have endo in many areas. I also suffer from bladder problems. I believe all three of my problems are somehow related.
I wish you luck and the strength to continue to seek your correct diagnosis.
Oh forgot to say endo doesn't show on an ultrasound scan. The gynae did an ultrasound scan to rule out other things and then carried out the lap to investigate.
Im sorry u had to go through this. I had several scans, internal & normal & xrays ! Was diagnosed with ibs & chrons before my correct diagnoses. I was also given physco sex counsellin BUT after my op. It was ok , useful to a degree but made me feel like i
