Thyroid problems?

I went to my GP today and after telling her about how my emotions have been lately along with weight gain but i always gain weight on the injection. she suggest a thyroid test...i know its only a blood test, but has anyone had any results and what were they and has anything improved ect?

Sorry heather that ur queation was left unanswered..maybe at this time u already have results of thyroid function test.i have hyperthyroidism diagnosed 10yrs ago.i was having palpitations and.my eyes bulged ,(exopthalmos) so even before the result came out,the doctor knew it was thyroid problem.i wasnt taking my meds religiously and now that d test results are normal,am afraid of I undergo treatment RAI they call it,my eyes might get worse..but uts could be d opposit, hypothyroidism.it is curable u just have to take ur meds rehularly..keep safe

I had a cyst on my thyroid gland diagnosed at the age of 26. It was drained a few times but kept recurring so the consultant advised me to have the affected tissue and surrounding area removed. This left me with half a thyroid gland which is sufficent for the body to function on without needing thyroxine tablets. The only drawback is having blood tests done regularly which show my GP how well the thyroid is working. The standard treatment for an underactive thyroid <which is possibly what your GP is considering you have> is thyroxine tablets daily.

I wasnt diagnosed with endometriosis until another 15 years later but think I was lucky and many of my endo symptoms were masked by long standing use of the contraceptive pill.

I realise this is an old thread and hope you have found some answers since you first posted your question!
