All depends. I was diagnosed at 17%. That was in April 2015 and I didn't start dialysis until November 2019. All depends on what has caused your kidney failure. Mine is an autoimmune immune disease which flares up every time I get an infection. You may be able to help delay dialysis by making lifestyle changes. Eating kidney friendly diet and keeping well hydrated. There are so many variables and everyone of us is different. Have you seen a renal dietician yet? My experience in UK is that I was assigned to the dialysis queue from the first diagnosis. But as I say you may be able to stretch it out for several years.
Hi, I am sorry to hear about your kidneys.
My sincere advice is... avoid dialysis at any cost. My eGFR dropped to 18 in Dec 2018 and I was facing the same faith, with my doctor giving up on any treatment, instead preparing me for dialysis. I was told nephropathy is an autoimmune disease, for which there is no cure. When I asked what is causing it, they could not provide answer... actually no surprise for me! I started educating myself and I discovered soon that , there is a cause and an alternative. The cause is body inflammation, and the treatment is to provide the best nutrition to you body, and minimize inflammation. My kidney functions began to improve steadily and my latest test this month show eGFR is 48, creatinine normal. Don’t give up.
I wish you best,
Andre
That's very hopeful then. I was diagnosed with ANCA vasculitis on 28th August last year following 2 cardiac arrests. My life was saved by a passerby performing CPR. I was discharged home on 6th February this year.
Could you give an example of a typical days diet? I am 86 living out the virus on a Caribbean island but not all food is available and my egfr is 24. My situation is made more difficult because I have advanced heart disease plus subject to urinary tract infections and the necessary antibiotics do affect my. One kidney. What do you eat most often. Hope you don’t mind my questions! Normally I live in London.
I should have added that my potassium sodium etc are fine. It is the very high creatinine level that affects my reading ( 1.35) and my BUN is also high. Thanks for reading!
Amazing improvement.
How did you manage to reduce inflammation?
What all you did?
What changes in diet were made
I have reduced my inflammation with cbd oil, redox signaling molecules and a glutathione precursor. My CRP went from 10.6 Oct 2018 to 1.47 March 2020. I still have slight inflammation but it is getting much better as you can see.
I am on ckd diet from my nutritionist.
All my kidney and liver numbers are normal now where they were high before.
Dm me if you want to know specifics.
