Hi everyone and a warm welcome. How are you feeling today? It may help you to share your thoughts and feelings with other members on this caring community so that you can support one another. How has being diagnosed with early CKD affected you emotionally? It may help you to share your thoughts and feelings about how you are coping day to day. What helps you to cope when you experience anxiety that is often associated with being diagnosed with a long term health condition? I find playing the flute, piano, art work and spending time with family and friends helps. What helps you? We hope you have a good week and look forward to hearing from you.

Hello, well even after years of high blood pressure and constant Dr visits because of what they called IBS , moving home to a different area and Dr. still just carried on saying IBS , (in all this time well over 35years I had many tests all the time being told it was IBS, eventually I was in so much agony I said to the Dr I am sure this is not IBS, his answer " I'll prove to you it is " and sent me for a colonoscopy , I went the hospital being very caring this time and said if in any pain in next 2 days come straight back, I did agonising pain, so went back, I was kept in , and had a variety of different tests that showed nothing suspicious, and was told to get ready to go home, thank goodness a doctor came rushing in , wanting me to have 1 last test as he wasn't happy about nothing showing, (this the first Dr.to believe me that I wasn't imagining symptoms ) I was sent for a CT scan, where the lady operating the machine said I can't see a kidney on the left just a smudge on the screen. At last things moved , within days of more advanced tests , I had the left kidney removed , it was just gunge as the surgeon put it, the cause of all the agony for years, the right kidney was only working at 16% too thankfully that has now picked up to 24%. I am now 67 and although getting older and more normal aches etc,. I feel better than I have for years, to answer the question , to be diagnosed with CKD was a relief, I wasn't going mad, I am angry that the Dr.s neverchecked my kidney years ago, surely the high BP should have warned them, and angry because for a lot of my childrens childhood I was too immobilised with pain to have fun with them . (Sorry for the long post, but this is cut short to all the things that happened.)
