Just had a kidney biopsy

I just had a rennal biopsy on Friday and ended up staying full weekend in hospital due to complications from it. Now I tried to go back to work today (no lifting) just to walk around and lasted about 3 hours because it hurt to bad .... the procedure wasn’t bad at all and hospital stay wasn’t bad either but now I guess since up and walking around it’s horrible pain and then I heard a pop in my back. I’m a delivery driver so they said no lifting until day 5 which is tomorrow. I just am wondering how tomorrow will go if I didn’t do to mich today and I could barely handle it

It sounds to me as you are definitely not fit enough to go back to work ,my husband was a delivery driver too before he retired and if you have to lift some of the weights he did, I would say you need a lot longer before lifting again. Also if it was him I would insist he went back for a check up, it doesn't sound like things are right, if you heard a loud pop and are in such pain, better to be safe than sorry as the saying goes, Good luck.

Totally agree with the last reply. I had a kidney biopsy and it didn't affect me as you have described.

Do ask for professional advice so they can make sure all is well.

I certainly wouldn't go back to work until they have given you the all clear.

Hope it's all sorted for you very soon.

Best wishes

Hi I had a biopsy also and it took me 2weeks for the pain to subside and bruising to go down ,they did 2 pieces of samples at the time so it was not the quick recovery I expected.

Hi SteamEngine68

Great name, by the way, my hubby would definitely approve he loves steam trains!!

I concur with all the sound advice you have received. You need to see your GP and get some stronger painkillers and ask for a sick note. You need to give your body time to recover, especially as you say you had complications. You need to rest up for a bit.

Best wishes,

Yes rest up for a few more days. Don't rush back to work and end up making it worse. Good on you wanting to go back but please take the time your body needs to repair itself. All the best.

Hello SteamEngine68, - I can only agree with the above posts, nothing is more important than you should get as fit and able to do your job as is possible. Best wishes - Curleytop1.
