I enjoy a glass of wine or occasionally a vodka or two but do have at least 2 days without and have stage 3a ckd There has been no great difference in my blood results. The key to this is drinking up to 1.5 to 2 litres of fluids each day and being a food detective adjusting phosphate and sulphate intake when taking wine. There is none in vodka when taking same with non fizzy top up, I am fit 71 year old and thoroughly enjoy my 'bevies'!
My doctors ALL advise no alcohol. Sure a drink or two on a holiday or occasion is fine. But not on an ongoing basis. It is so simple to understand. Two primary functions of the kidneys is bodily fluid balance and to remove toxins. Alcohol dehydrates. Alcohol hurts blood pressure which hurts kidney. The kidney removes toxins. Alcohol inhibits this process. Why do it??? What is more important? Your life or that drink?
