I have just had 2 blood tests. In the first one my GFR was 57. The second was 59. They want to do a third. I saw on my lab report that this GFR puts me in stage 3aCKD. Is this reversible? Or will this progress quickly. I'm 62. Should l be seeing a Nephrologist? I'm pretty freaked out.

Worried
Hi
Firstly, don't panic. You could live healthily at stage 3 for many years.
Whether this can be reversed or will progress is mostly determined by your original diagnosis. Things like creatinine, protein and phosphate are sometimes better indicators of what is happening with your kidneys. Depending on which country you are in, an appointment with a nephrologist will happen if your gfr starts dropping continuously.
Good luck.
I was in the 50s for years, even as low as 49. Last summer mid 60s and just spoke to doctor and it's 62. I just ignore it now. my GP is happy with 62 after ten years at around 53. Don't know what I've done different.
So how did you get your GFR back up so high? That's great! Do you know why it dropped? Lastly, should l see a Nephrologist yet & start a particular diet?
The only thing I've done different is take apple cider vinegar sometimes, not avoiding potassium but don't eat alot of meat, never have. Just being normal. This is just me though, other people might need to avoid things. Had ultrasound and could not find anything and that was when I was at around 54.
