High phosphate levels and itching - Early CKD Support
High phosphate levels and itching
They only work if you take them with every meal. The itching will reduce however you can get relief using aloe Vera gel or diprobase emollient.
Dietician should advise, phosphate binders do what they say, bind with the phosphate, meaning it can pass out of the body, either way
Phosphate also binds with calcium, which given the bone structure of mammals isn't so good, hence the importance of phosphate binders.
There are lots of hidden phosphates in food especially processed food, however the commonest, higher phosphates are cheese, nuts, wholegrain, and eggs. So with the dieticians help try reducing these. Sadly they are also in fizzy drinks and chocolate.
There's a lot of advice on diets, and foods on the web, and some recommended books.
