Hello I’m looking for some advice, I had been feeling a little under the weather the last week with what I thought was a uti. I attended out of hours gp yesterday and urine sample came back normal even though I was running to the toilet every 20 mins and peeing large amounts. The doctor decided to prick my finger to check my blood sugar and it was 8 so he said I need to go to my own doctor and get retested. Does this mean I have diabetes?

Hi, more information is needed such as when did you eat prior to the finger prick. Your doctor will explain this to you but I was diagnosed on a finger prick which was in the 20s.
I had been feeling sick so I just had a banana around 3 hours before that’s all I had eaten all day, I did have a bottle of fizzy juice about an hour before going to doctors
Hi Sal888 ,
Tell your doctor what the other doctor you saw recently said about the blood test and what you've told us. Your personal doctor may do an A1c test to see what your blood sugars had been for the last 3 or 4 months. Depending on what the results turn out being, you may have to see an Endocrinologist and get a home testing kit for blood sugars. Please let us know what you find out at your next appointment.
Do you carb. count for each meal/snack?
I don’t carb count for food, it’s all really new to me and the doctor had said it was a bit high and would need a retest again. I’m going to book in for this week again and see what my own doctor thinks I’ll keep updated and let you know how I get on.
