Semaglutide

Has anyone here tried this? I’ve been on it for 3 weeks and I certainly won’t be carrying on. The side effects-for me anyway-are far too much. The nausea is awful, I just don’t want to eat anything, I have terrible ‘eggy’ burps, food tastes awful and my stomach is constantly gurgling and groaning. I’m also having reflux at night! I know this is supposed to be the new ‘magic’ treatment, but I was ok before. My last HbA1c was 6.8, done last month, and I’m losing weight without the Semaglutide. I have persevered, but unfortunately, it’s not for me. 😕

Hi sue32 ,

Please let the doctor and the office know you want to come in this week to discuss what the side effects of the Semaglutide have been causing for you. Please let us know what you find out.

I will be phoned by the nurse in the next week, so I’ll be able to tell them then...XX

Hi Sue

I have never heard of it so sorry I can’t help but is it something to do with weight? Very recently I went on a 6 week (15 hours) diabetes course run in conjunction with the NHS in England (where are you?). This was a great course and talked about diets a bit. One diet recommended (yes I know there are many 😀) was the low carb high fat diet. This isn’t advice just my experience but I found it pretty easy to follow and of course involved no medicine 👍. I have lost obvert half a stone in about 5 weeks and I was lucky to be already just within the healthy BMI range when I started. So it’s been great for me. 👍👍.

But of course do please follow Activity2004’s advice as she has far more expertise than I do, of course!!

Good luck

Miles

Hi....I’m in N Wales! I follow the same low carb diet and I was quite happy until my diabetes doc decides I’d be an ideal candidate for this new drug. It’s really upset my stomach....xx

Oh dear poor you 😕. Well ahem at least you can give some feedback even if not the sort they wanted!

Why can’t you have the old faithful Metformin? I have 2000mg a day and because my BSL is so good now I hope it will be reduced soon 👍

Good luck!
