Gestational Diabetes

Hello,

I am a 26-year-old lady and my height is 5 feet 7 inches. My weight is 56.

I had gestational diabetes and now even after one and a half years of delivering my baby my blood sugar is high. My doctor has put me on metformin two times a day. I've always been active and exercising.

Please, can anyone help me out with natural remedies so I can be off the medicines?

Thank you.

Hi Meher15 you are a young lady of 26 - that's not old!!

I am not a medically qualified person but I am alerted to the fact that you are on Metformin and I just want you to be aware that taken long term it may have an adverse affect on your absorption of Vitamin B12 which you can only source naturally by eating red meats, fish, seafoods. eggs, poultry and dairy produce.

You will also need to ensure that your Folate level is "healthy" as this works with the B12.

I hope you find some answers and wish you and your toddler well.

Thanx a lot clivealive and even I am aware of the side effects of metformin but cant help it as this is the only way to keep my blood sugar under control but I am planning to taper it off in an healthy way, are you aware of any natural remedies.

No, as I said I'm not medically qualified but I do have Type 2 diabetes and am on Metformin plus I've had Pernicious Anaemia (a form of Vitamin B12 deficiency) for 45 years so I'm always checking to see what adverse affect medications I'm taking may have on my B12 levels.

Sadly I cannot help you with other "natural remedies" although I think Metformin is made from the flowers of a plant called French Lilac or Goat's Rue.

Hi, I also had gestational diabetes and was on insulin, I have had impaired sugar for almost 3 years after, but have managed to stay off ant drugs by eating broccoli and beat root, I'm not a doctor, and don't know why this works for me, but if I can avoid insulin or metaphor in, I will gladly eat these.

Try more often to use orky, cutt some pieces into bowel(likely handful),the cuut pieces add a freas water, when you migh do this might be night, then in morning waking up take a glass of the liquid, which looks like white mucous,no ordour,no bad taste, after drinking the water, add another water again.

Hi, I walk the dog everyday, and eat Brocilii most days of the wk, dragon fruit when it's in season, and manuca honey. I do eat naught foods too, and so far, all is good and my sugar levels are more level and stable then when I was on insulin. As I said, I'm not a doctor but I am into using natures best.

Hi, I've been diagnosed with GD with my second. It's driving me crazy. I'm on metformin 4x day and insulin. I've cut out all sugars and eat a v low carb diet, high in fibre and unsat fats and med protein...essentially ending my usual low fat mediterranean diet. I saw this the other day - wonder if it could help you? bbc.co.uk/news/health-39070183
