Its botonical name is Gymnema sylvestre. It is claimed that it is quite effective to combat Diabetes. I don't know. My diabetes 2 is just above the range , fasting 128 and PP 165 with HbA1c 6.4 . Does Gurmar help ? If so, how should it be taken.....I mean dose and method and for how long.

I tried with no success. Water therapy no success. On consulting one post graduate Homeopath, advised me to continue with the allopathic treatment I was already on. I am not a medical student. But I have extensively read, of course, with guidance and discussions from the practicing doctors. Not to forget the cardinal advice I have come across: from only source be it gurmar, lady finger, drumstick and whatever, singly cannot become a reliable line of treatment. Please do not fall for such thing.

of course,if you just depend on medicine only, whatever pathy it may be,nothing is going to happen.I have diabetes since 1995 and my experience is that you must have diet control, exercise and medicine ......in this order as per your body's nature, you can manage your diabetes efficiently.keep your stress level under control by yoga ,pranayam and meditation and see the amazing results.Allopathic medicines control your BS level but in the long run they ruin your metabolism systems with their side effects.managing diabetes is combined efforts of diet control, exercise and suitable medicines.

My experience is Gymnema sylvestre is effective in initial phases for 4-5 years. Believe it is one of the drugs mentioned in Ayurvedic classical texts. It definitely helps in controlling diabetic complications even if not able to control sugar levels. There is an excellent Ayurvedic tablet by name Glymin from Kerala Ayurveda which has Gymnema sylvestre, Jambu seeds (Jamun), Haridra (Turmeric), Amla, few more herbs, beauty is whole combination is processed in Shilajit.

I feel Glymin can be a good supplement to Allopathy drugs/Insulin. In any case consult an Ayurvedic Physician esp. from Kerala Ayurveda (keralaayurveda.biz/). Check for the wellness center nearby you.

It is also available in Homeopathic Mother tincture form. It is used in diabeties by physicians

how ever it is effective to some extent and not a treatment for diabeties.

You can cure diabetes completely without any allopathic medicine, especially in the initial phase as the case is with you. I have been able to do so for myself. Don't take allopathic medicine as they will destroy your natural metabolic control mechanism. You may read my article on this which has been very beneficial for people. the link is ezinearticles.com/?Curing-D...

Although I have never tried this but I do remeber buying something for diabetes from nuayurveda.com/ayurveda/. I got it for my mom. Her diabetes levels shot up suddenly and it worked fine. Since, it has been in balance. Moreover, I have used other Ayurvedic medicines and I wont lie most of them are really very good.
