I have been using Spirulina for the last several years and have found it to be a good supplement of vitamin and host other things a human needs. I take 2 tablets of 1 gm each in the morning and night after food. I also add it in smoothies which I take in the morning instead of breakfast.

Centre of Science for Villages, Wardha which a government organization is producing and promoting Spirulina.

We can get best quality Spirulina from Wardha.

It is considered as super food.....but is it good for diabetic???? we really don't know...members should experiment and share experiences....

Following is the link:

portal.csvtech.in/?p=591

There are many other capsules from various manufacturers are available in market.

However.....read what Centre of Science for Villages says about spirulinea.....

* 25 times higher in beta-carotene than carrots.

* 28 times higher in iron than beef liver, and 56 times higher than spinach or

steak.

* The highest whole food source of B-12, which is important for vegetarians

*Rich in Glycogen which is rarely found in plants. Glycogen is stored in the

liver for quick energy

*Richer in chlorophyll than alfalfa and wheat grass

Hmmm rich in glycogen....will it show some negative impact of FBS????

Guess spirulinea is for non diabetic ppl.

Well really speaking I was very much surprised other day about ur IR I.e.triglycerides/HDL ratio if it is 6....then ur triglycerides are very high..cause with LCHf ur HDL won't go below 35....

Then what is reason for such high triglycerides?

in reply tocure

That was 2.5 months back.

Tg 143 and hdl 31

But now reduced the carbs intake drastically

Let's see now after a week when I will test again

great...if with those tg if you could hit HBa1c 5.2.....I am sure you will be cured soon.

You are on that path.... all the best dude....

May god give you long and healthy life.

in reply tocure

I don't think there is a cure @ cure

But yes.. I believe that this can be controlled by diet

So fat LCHF has worked for me. So waiting till sept to get out of metformin 500 bid which I am on currently

Later only lchf will be able to handle it I believe

Do you agree with this??

Partial remission is sub-diabetic hyperglycemia (A1C not diagnostic of diabetes [<6.5%], fasting glucose 100–125 mg/dl [5.6–6.9 mmol/l]) of at least 1 year's duration in the absence of active pharmacologic therapy or ongoing procedures.

Complete remission is a return to “normal” measures of glucose metabolism (A1C in the normal range, fasting glucose <100 mg/dl [5.6 mmol/l]) of at least 1 year's duration in the absence of active pharmacologic therapy or ongoing procedures.

" The highest whole food source of B-12"

These are B12 analogues and are not useful for humans. These analogues interfere with true B12 synthesis.

Samarrh what is your opinion about Spirulina Tablets Totally it is good for diabetic or not Are you consmed at any time what the carb content in it

I have no personal experience about spirulina.

It contains all the essential amino acids.

Further... here is on other links which says Spirulina helps in T2

livestrong.com/article/3567...

This may be due to reduction in triglycerides...and by that increasing insulin sensitivity.

I was told it is a good source of protein and B-12 a substitute for pulses and for persons not used to animal protein

Read further about spirulina...

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spiru...

Because of the high per-gram amounts of some micronutrients, it is recommended that healthy adults consume no more than 4 grams per day to avoid potentially toxic amounts of vitamin A and some heavy metals.[citation needed] One study reported the presence of lead up to 5.1 ppm in a sample from a commercial supplement.[15] Improperly processed spirulina may contain significant amounts of cyanotoxins which can accumulate in the body over time.[16]

Hmm....I don't remember exactly....but while producing/cultivating Spirulina high temperature is required....so only Spirulina will grow and other algae will die.If this temperature is not maintained then there are high chances of produce getting contaminated with toxic algae.

Further,I used Spirulina lot for aquarium fishes to enhance colors. Don't know if they show color due to good heath or due to accumulated zeaxanthin.

I have been taking spirulina for 5 years since 2012. News about Pseudo b12 are wrong. Take 4 grams / day of spirulina and you wont face any issues related to health and if you continue taking for 4-6 months regularly, you will start seeing a drop in sugar levels. To prevent constipation and to enhance our health, I suggest taking spirulina with chlorella ( 4 gms spirulina, 8 gms chlorella) with 1-2 tbsp honey, lemon/apple cider vinegar and water. Spirulina and chlorella both have a peculiar aftertaste ( in powder form) and hence honey and lemon helps balance the taste along with increasing nutritional value.

To prevent metal toxicity, always buy only organic spirulina and organic chlorella. They check metal levels before shipping the product batch.

Everyone with diabetes or cancer or heart related issues should consider taking organic spirulina powder and organic chlorella powder. However if you have any autoimmune diseases ( celiac etc), you should refrain from taking these powders as they boost your immunity a lot due to high chlorophyll content. Other than that, its good for weight loss, weight gain, building vitamin levels, detox, lung disorders, blood pressure, cholesterol etc.

If you feel sluggish/sleepy in afternoon - taking it in above doses for 10-12 days will make you feel super energetic. If you are unable to get good sleep, take it 2 hours after dinner or just before bedtime and give it 7-10 days. I used to have both of these issues and they are entirely gone. Spirulina and chlorella give you lots of energy, focused mind and positive spirit which reminds me it helped a friend of mine come out of depression/suicidal thoughts in 5 months of taking it. There is a reason why athletes and sports stars are increasingly taking these two for their training and during games.

Best time to take spirulina and chlorella combined is morning on an empty stomach. Dont eat or have breakfast for 40 mins after taking it. Though you can take it before or after meals too if you like. Empty stomach will give you faster results.
