I am taking metformin tab 500mg thrice daily after food. Blood sugar level is well maintained below 150 and FBS below 120. Occassionally PPBS may shoot to200 but rarely. I want to know the side effects of this drug in the long run.

Last time when tested HbA1C was 6. FBS was 114 and PPBS was 130. I brought to this level after adding turmeric in my breakfast which consists of a cup of channa cooked with salt and turmeric and one egg omlette.. no carb at all. Earlier PPBS was never below 200. change of diet and turmeric helped.

I am taking the same dose metformin 500 mg sustained release since 1 year - 3 times daily.. no side effects so far. But best is to control BS by diet.
