If you are using any commercial toothpaste , if you read through the list of ingredients , you will find a dozen of Synthetic chemical additives in it- some are preservatives, some are foaming agents, some are cleansing agents, some are dispersing agents, some are for flavour and many such things . But perhaps the only useful ones are Sodium mono fluoro phosphate and potassium nitrate , and zinc oxide......needless to say that when you use such toothpaste , the synthetic chemical additives are absorbed through your tongue and mouth and may enter our blood stream and may cause undesirable side effects which we never attribute to toothpaste ..

On the other hand, there are pure herbal toothpaste which donot have the useful ones like fluoride and pottassium Nitrate- both are scientifically proven to be preventing dental caries and sensitivity.

Coolgate has thoughtfully has come out with a Diabete toothpaste which has (1) Madhunasini (2) Neem (3) Jamun (4) Amla along with fluoride and Potassium Nitrate.

It is not that it would cure your diabetes. But at least it has been thoughtfully made by the scientists at Colgate.

I tried it and found it very refreshing.

Diabetic patients are more likely to develop periodontal disease, which in turn can increase blood sugar and diabetic complications. People with diabetes are more likely to have periodontal disease than people without diabetes, probably because people with diabetes are more susceptible to contracting infections. Hence diabetic patients should visit a dentist once in a year and plaques (dental caries) should be removed to prevent periodontal disease.

Miswak is a teeth cleaning twig made from salvadora persica tree. Apart from their antibacterial activity which may control the formation activity of dental plaque; they can be used effectively as natural tooth brush for teeth cleaning. Such sticks are effective, inexpensive, commonlly available and contain many medical properties.
