Hi Friends,
I would like to get a feel of how many here are trying to treat their diabetes and related health issues with Ayurveda. Has it helped? What has been your experience?

Hi Guru1977 ,
Have you consulted with your doctor about the possibility of using Ayurveda medication/treatment before starting it? If not, can you please either call the doctor's office and schedule an in-office or video chat appointment so you can let the doctor know that you were interested in getting more information about how the medication/treatment would help you? No one wants anyone getting sick or worse. Always ask a doctor before you start a new diet/exercise routine/medication to be on the safe side of things.
What I understand is it helps in two ways :
1. Good control for upto 10 years
2. Minimizing or even completely avoiding associated ailments like damage kidney, eyes, neuropathy etc. even if sugar is not controlled. Helps in overall metabolism.
But key is finding a good Ayurvedic Physician and consulting him regularly even if there are setbacks. Ayurveda should not be treated as last resort, but should be accompanied by Allopathic treatment. My one cent, HTH...
Switching to ayurvedic treatment from allopathic medicines should not be done abruptly.Start both treatment simultaneously reducing allopathic medicines slowly as per your controlling sugar levels, but please remember, diet control, exercise/yoga and medicines,in this order should be the criteria and not medicines, medicines and medicine. Please be safe and healthy.
I agree that keeping a watch on carb intake is important in Diabetes, but not the idea that monounsaturated fat should replace carbs. I'd rather deal with health issues the Ayurvedic way and according to it, fat contributes to the pathogenesis of Madhumeha which is a super-set of what is now referred to as Diabetes.
