If you number of 7. 5 % is HbA1C, take a look at the top of this page.

Between 7 and 8, green to amber the change.

Doctors look at the man made numbers and follow their guide line protocol and give medication!!

At the end of the day we human all are different, life style change and regular, avoiding sugar in what goes into our mouth are all important to control blood glucose level.

Regular eye check, foot check and blood check are also important.

For younger patients, HbA1C less than 5.7 is considered as normal, while HbA1C between 6.5 to 5.7 is considered pre- diabetic and above 6.5 is considered to be diabetic. But HbA1C below 7.0 is considered to be diabetes with good control. However, in 2018, the American College of Physicians, has recommended that patients with type 2 diabetes should be treated to achieve an A1C between 7 and 8 percent rather than 6.5 to 7 percent. This recommendation was made on the basis that treatments to targets of 7 per cent or less did not reduce deaths or macrovascular complications such as heart attacks or stroke but did result in substantial harm. So, the American College of Physicians recommended that the physician should not have any target levels for older people in particular. Hence, some physicians consider that you are doing ok, even if HbA1C is 8.0 for this reason for older people. However, if one can achieve lower HbA1C values with good diet control and exercise, without increasing medication too much, it is advisable.

In UK,NHS has it's protocol therefore the HbA1C level can vary and also not all GP's work towards the new guide lines.!!!

Yes. Many diabetologists here advise to maintain HbA1C below 7.0.
