Not a good news for those who take fish oil supplements. It is one of the best selling supplement world over...

.....Oily Sea Fish as a whole food may be beneficial for heart (provided that it is not contaminated by sea pollutants such as Mercury, Lead, Arsenic and other toxic chemicals from industries) but not the much hyped fish oil derived EPA/ DHA Supplements......

AstraZeneca, an US based Pharmaceutical company has given up the plan of a big project for manufacturing a pill called Epanova consisting of fish oil derived EPA plus DHA for heart failure.

However, USFDA has approved one concentrated form of standalone EPA called Vascepa... to be used along with a statin to counter high Triglyceride level which is a high risk factor for Heart failure...

As we all know T2DM's carry heart risk....

So, Please read on this intersting article and don't waste your money for fish oil supplements... In fact if your physician has identified that you carry a heart risk, it is better to take a low dose statin with a low dose Aspirin and /or Clopridogrel (Blood thinners) after consultation with your Doctor.....it can even be taken on alternate days which is equally effective to prevent a clot or a stroke...
