Diabetic Foot complications.

I have been a diabetic since 2001. For a few years tried to control My BS levels by popular ayurvedic medicines etc. Since 2006, after a throat infection, I was advised to take insulin. And since then I have been taking Mixtard 30 twice a day.

My sugar was poorly managed for quite some time. HbA1C reports always were over 7.5 and once it was more than 10. For the past 3-4 years I am facing the issues with my feet. My ankle joints started collapsing after a bike accident. Though the fracture healed, I started developing flat foot. The orthopedist said that I should wear arch support shoes. of late, the toe next to the big toe of my left foot has bent also the big toe has become inverted. though I take great precautions to keep my feet clean and injury free, I don't know what next is in order. The toe nails have become too hard to cut by nail-cutters. I am scared to go for a pedicure. The doctors in my city don't advise properly and financially I cannot afford to go to big city hospitals for consultations or treatment. I am scared that I might develop Charcot's foot leading to amputation.

I am under continuous stress and feel depressed.

I think a good pedicurist will be able to trim your toe nails without any problems.Overgrown toenails may lead to injury resulting in complications.

I can understand what you must be going through. Have a heart, everything will be ok. I think if you do LCHF and Intermittent Fasting you will definitely get some relief in your overall health and especially in lowering blood sugar, once the blood sugars are in normal range the body will start healing itself. Only thing I would push for is to get disciplined and work on yourself instead of getting stressed and worried. If you are a meat eater it will be much easier, otherwise, you can rely on Virgin coconut oil, Ghee, Butter, Malai (Cream), Curd, lots of green vegetables, nuts and seeds. Hope this helps.

Please take blood sugar reading (FBS) daily and try to reduce the quantity of foods that cause hyperglycemia.

Your problems relates to neuro-skeleto-muscular joint. The damage which has already taken place due to high blood sugar can not cured. The aim of treatment is to reduce further complications.

Regarding your foot problem you have to consult your Doctor and pedicurist.

Despite taking insulin your bs has not been in proper control. Have you reviewed yout diet. Diet plays very important role in blood sugar control.

As I do not know your current diet and whether you are overweight,I can not make any specific suggestions. Under any conditions, do not discontinue any prescribed medications/insulin in anticipation that a diet will fix your problem. Medicines/insulin dose has be reduced only after the improvement in conditions if any. This is how you avoid possible risk of complications.

In general, LCHF/KETO diets have been very effective in resolving T2D and overweight issues. Many have been able to reduce insulin dose and some have even got rid of insulin altogether. It depends on individual conditions.

If you would like to know more about this and whether it would be suitable approach for you, you may have to share more information about your conditions: fasting bs, height and weight, your typical diet in a day, and any other medical conditions e.g. high bp.
