This wheat is also known as the sugarfree wheat and one of the first type of wheat to be cultivated in India, during the Indus valley civilization...yes this wheat has a history of 4500 years...!! This has less gluten and more fibre and best used to prepare rotis and bread...this heirloom variety of wheat is a boon to diabetics and people who are gluten intolerant...

Please consult your doctor before you try the wheat. Any change to a diet or medication needs to be consulted first with a doctor to be on the safe side. :-)

85 minutes spike= 120 mg/dL

PPBS after 120 minutes= 122 mg/dL

Paigambari Wheat:

I had an equivalent amount of this type of wheat for dinner.

Observation:

100 minutes spike= 147 mg/dL

I continued having the same amount of wheat for breakfast today.

Observation:

But compared to Paigambari Wheat the result of Emmer Wheat is very good and I am very anxious to know you have preferred Paigambari Wheat instead of Emmer Wheat.

Do you cook the grains like rice?

barani19 profile image
barani19Administratorβ€’ in reply tosandybrown

Yes. But its not a good substitute for rice. I've switched back to Emmer wheat now. It suits more for the typical south Indian meal.

barani19 profile image
barani19Administratorβ€’ in reply toVikas036

Vikas036 ,

I found Emmer wheat work comparatively better than Paigambari for me.Also, getting Paigambari is a daunting task. So, as of now, i'm happy with Organic Emmer Wheat.

Has your doctor suggested that you start eating/using Paigambri? Please consult your doctor to be sure that you can safely use it without any side effects. No one wants anyone getting sick or worse from using new food/medication.πŸ˜€πŸ‘
