Diabetic going for cataract
The eye surgeon will confirm your diabetes before the surgery. To be on safer side carry your glucometer to the clinic and check before you enter the surgery. If your diabetes is under reasonable control, you have nothing to worry.Just follow the SOP as directed by the surgeon.
Hi
I am a diabetic as well. The clinic or hospital you are going to should know that you are a diabetic. At my hospital they take your blood sugar levels with their own equipment (I was right at the maximum, so I was worried they wouldn’t operate, but they did!)
It is worth you checking whether your clinic/hospital do the blood sugar level tests - this may avoid you having to take your own tester. Generally hospitals like to use their own equipment!

The cataract removal operation will not be done if your sugar levels are high.
I have undergone laser cataract surgery for both eyes (left eye on 2-01-2017 and right eye on 10-01-2017). But it is very costly. (Rs.80,000/- for one eye).
After cataract surgery, you have use eye drops 4 times daily for a period of one month.
