I think in diabetes, since glucose is not absorbed efficiently by cells, nutrients along with glucose might not get absorbed as I also get anemia since I got diabetes.

You might be wondering what the link is, then, between iron and diabetes. ... The thought is that high iron levels may cause damage to muscle tissue, thereby decreasing the body's ability to move glucose from the blood into cells and also interfering with insulin production.

Although, I find recently that I am anemiic inspite of being diabetic and having strict control, my doctor has prescribed iron tablets. I wonder what could be ideal treatment.

Ideal treatment is supplementation only. Iron is not absorbed from food you take it seems. With age, absorption of nutrients (micronutrients like vitamins and minerals) decrease due to wear and tear of tissues for years as body's efficiency is decreased.
