No reason why fruits are to be avoided. There are fruits like apple with a relatively low GI value of 38.We have to avoid high glycemic fruits like ripe guavas, sapota etc. What is needed is awareness of GI values of different fruits and follow the principle of glycemic load strictly.Personally, I eat oranges and papaya regularly.
Low GI fruits in moderation as a part of healthy diet is ok. You have to include this in your daily carbohydrate allowance.
Think its more with the ripeness. The more it is the more GI it seems Anybody advice if seedless grapes are ok to have?
Today i saw a doctor speaking on this subject in the TV. HE ADVISED to check the blood sugar level after taking fruits it will be lower than normal.

What's the name of that doctor? If he is Dr. Chakraborthy, then he is not a medical doctor. But a PHD. Don't listen to him.

Fruits good for Diabetics are: apple, guava, berries, avocado in moderation. Water melon is also good. Banana, sapota, grapes, pineapple and a few others are high carb., so better best avoided. Fructose is a cause for nafld.
In mango season I eat l kg mango daily every year even there is no any increase in BS level. I am diabetic since last 18 years. And eat every fruits of all season.
