Glycomet250 is it safe for me ?

My fasting sugar is 130 and HbA1c is 6.Whether I can take Glycomet 250 daily to control

my blood sugar.Please reply.

Composition for Glycomet 250 mg Tablet is Metformin (250mg).

Metformin is used alone or with other medications, including insulin, to treat type 2 diabetes (condition in which the body does not use insulin normally and, therefore, cannot control the amount of sugar in the blood). Metformin is in a class of drugs called biguanides. Metformin helps to control the amount of glucose (sugar) in your blood. It decreases the amount of glucose you absorb from your food and the amount of glucose made by your liver. Metformin also increases your body's response to insulin, a natural substance that controls the amount of glucose in the blood.

Metformin is prescribed even for pre-diabetes persons. It is on the World Health Organization's List of Essential Medicines, the most effective and safe medicines needed in a health system.

Adopt low carbohydrate diet.

Do not consume food after 8:00 pm.

Engage in aerobic exercise.

You can avoid anti-diabetic medications if so desire.

Please check FBS, PPBS and HbA1c after 3 months.

@ gangadharan- nair. It is often recommended to discontinue Metformin for those who have renal insufficiency or higher serum creatinine level.. What other factors / symptoms should also be looked into (apart from may be, eGFR,levels of salts like potassium, BP,Edima,low hunger,albumin leakage).How Metformin harms?.. Which and How other drugs will help?..I request Anup also to guide ...

Glycomet 250 is safe medicines don't worry u can avoid this medicines by eating less and drinking more water and excercise
