Co Q10 - does it help?

This has been considered a miracle supplement for diabetics and also the elderly and there has been a huge increase in recent years in the number of users, esp. in the US. If anyone on this forum has been using this, what has been your experience? Has it helped fight fatigue, increased a sense of well being, controlled sugars, helped come off meds etc. as some users claim?

I understand there are two versions of it, the synthesized and the natural, the latter made from fermented yeast with hardly any price difference but manufacturers try to pass of the synthesized as natural. Does it make a difference what variety one ingests?

Finally are there any manufacturers of this supplement in India?

Coq 10 is for heart to improve Power and energy

Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is a natural antioxidant synthesized by the body, found in many foods, and available as a supplement. It comes in two forms: ubiquinol, the active antioxidant form, and ubiquinone, the oxidized form, which the body partially converts to ubiquinol.

Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is a substance similar to a vitamin. It is found in every cell of the body. Your body makes CoQ10, and your cells use it to produce energy your body needs for cell growth and maintenance.

But since CoQ10 production declines with age, it's a nutrient it is strongly recommended to take the same. For people under 60, the recommended dosage is 50-100 mg daily. If you're over 60 or on a statin drug, you should take 100-200 mg daily—and you can increase that to 300 mg daily if you want even greater heart support.

Fully agreed with all what is said here.

I am 69 Type 2 prescribed along with statin and feeling as if I am in my 40s.

However, I am requested to have a one full month break after two months of continuity.

I know, but could you answer my questions?

I have been taking CoQ10 for the last couple of years. No discernible improvement, but perhaps CoQ10 has helped me not to deteriorate badly.

Don't use Zenith, their product quality is inconsistent. Use NOW Foods instead. Indian mfrs are unethical cheats, to put it mildly.

As regards synthetic vs natural, I don't have a clue. First I am hearing of this as a matter of fact.

coq10 is synthesized by liver...it is said statin interferes that process.. so coq10 supplementation along with statin is required...

But again it is said due to aging body loses its ability to produce required quantity of coq10.... best natural source of coq10 is organ meat...

Is there a reliable product made in India? The products available online are mostly made in the US though sold in India and are too expensive for me. Also the labels I checked on illustrations online all say "Fermented" but this is no guarantee that the product is organically processed. The words "Trans-form" on the label shows that it is 100% natural - I don't see those on labels that say "Fermented". I must admit I still do not know if the synthesized version is better or worse.

My doctor has reinstated statins in my regimen after I was off it for six months. I have been taking it over 10 years and I need a buffer against its long-term negative effects and the coenzyme seems to be the best bet.
