Diabetic or not?

I am 60 years. My fasting blood sugar is 150 and 2 hours after breakfast it rises to 240mg. Am I diabetic and should I start some medicines?

Undergo HbA1c test.

Fasting blood sugar must be less than 100 mg/dL. Postprandial blood sugar must be less than 140 mg/dL.

Control your blood sugar with low carbohydrate diet, aerobic exercise and anti-diabetic medications.

Consult an Endocrinologist.

Yes. You are in the beginning stage of diabetes Mellitus. First of all, don't be panic, if you heard that you are diabetic. It is not a disease but deformity of the body you own. To control within prescribed levels, start walking in the morning for half an hour to 40 mins, do some yoga or physical exercise for 10 mins to 20 mins, control your diet within 2200 calories (ie. Morning breakfast 600+Tea 200+Lunch 600+ Tea with snacks 300+ Dinner 500). Do some meditations for peace of mind at your ease.
