Which vegetable have you questioned for? (Bitter gourd, ridge gourd or cabbage) I do eat all of them. As I know both types of gourds are beneficial for diabetics due to their sugar lowering substances. While cabbage is great veg with many goodness plus it fills me up due to high fibers. However if you are taking antidiabetic medicines, do not eat too much these gourds as they can cause hypoglycemia. Therefore, consult your doctor before.

Why should gourds cause hypos? Would you please explain.

These gourds including any other vegetables or herbs that help lower BS are most likely to interact with the anti diabetic medications resulting hypoglycemia. It's best check with the doctor before taking them.

Check with which doctor ?

Ok. Fine. Even if you believe that the gourds reduce bs significantly why should you not use gourds ? Better reduce the dose of medicines. I still tell you and everybody here that only and only diet has major impact on your bs. Exercise comes next.

That would be the doctor who prescribes the anti-diabetic medications. I totally agree with you that diet has major impact on our bs then exercise and this is what I have been doing/controlling my own bs since diagnosed. Thank you for keep telling us. :)

I hope I have answered kahrelo ("this one good for diabetic or not") even though I still do not know for which vegetable he's asked.

😁😁. Doctors just scribble few medicines. They don't say that the diet is the most important remedy for D.

My point was different. I meant that any gourd would not lower bs but since they are low carb bs rise is small leading to the interpretation that they lower bs and potentiate the effect of drugs.

It makes sense from what you explained suramo. However, through my readings these gourds help lower BS but I do not eat them or relying on them for my BS control. I sometimes use them as ordinary vegetables whenever the recipes require. It is impossible to eat them every day plus eating too much of these gourds we could end up with something else. Perhaps someone on this forum has come across using them and would like to share his/her ideas and experiences.

The vegetables shown above have low sugar so it reduces the BS to a great extent. But I do not agree that by eating these veggies somebody will end up in some thing else. Remember that every body reacts differently and metabolic effects also vary .Thanks.
